Signed in as you

tmc auth app-login — sign in the way the desktop app does, then manage friends, parties, presence, installs, subscriptions, reviews and leaderboards from a shell.

A content key (tmc auth login) lets tmc create and edit your items. Everything that is about you — your friends, your parties, what you are playing, your installs and subscriptions, your reviews, your place on a leaderboard — is the per-user half of the App API, and it needs an app-user session instead. tmc gets one the same way the desktop app does: it prints a link and a code, you approve it in a browser where you are signed in, and the session is saved in your profile beside any content key.

tmc auth app-login # prints the link and code, waits for you to approve
tmc auth app-login --browser # …and opens the link
tmc auth app-whoami # who the session is
tmc auth app-logout # ends the session on the site, then forgets it

tmc account avatar -o json > me.json && tmc account avatar-set me.json
tmc report mod 42 --type SPAM --title "Scam links" --content "The description links to …"

tmc account is your synced settings, the downloads your signed-in app devices have in progress, and your avatar document. tmc report sends an item to the moderators (--type SPAM or OTHER; a title of 3 to 120 characters and a description of 10 to 4000), as you rather than as a content key.

tmc reviews (plural) writes as you; tmc review is still the content API’s review type. A review the site holds for approval says so.

How the session is kept

The access token lasts an hour and is renewed with the refresh token automatically — at most once per command, when it has expired or the site answers 401. If that fails too, the command says so and the session is dropped; run app-login again. The session is stored in your profile file (readable by you alone), is tied to the address that issued it, and is never sent to another --base-url. TMC_APP_TOKEN supplies an access token directly for a CI job; nothing is stored or renewed then.
